If you were to ask Solomon ha'melech, or Chavah

this group is a place to discuss how to treat the animals and the living soul in the world, according to Scripture

..and yes, chaim refers to "life". Chai is the singular form. Chaim is plural. Baalei means owners. Baal is owner singular. In Hebraic, like many other languages, the adjective comes after the noun, and if the noun is plural, then so is the descriptive word.

I would like to add also, although I can't remember the specific sources at the moment, I have read that (and now I'm referring to the video above in this group's text box) we can learn from anyone including a small child, we are to give all respect, for we don't know who Moshiach is, and (these are all in separate passages but I think they tie together well) we can learn from the common house-cat, as they try as they can to have privacy when then relieve their bladders and bowels.

tzar baalei chaim is a Jewish term, which I believe to mean... "ability of living beings to suffer". There are supposed to be six hundred and thirteen commandments in the Torah (including the Ten Commandments). One of the 613 is I think..be wary of causing suffering to living beings ...or...tzar baalei chaim! But please, Yahaloma, please look it up. I find your responses very informative. :)

Okay, let's start with what does the name mean? I know chaim is life (right?).

And let's dig up some scripture that shows us how animals are treated, or to be treated.
